Privacy Policy

The Short Version
GamepadTools runs its hardware-testing tools locally in your browser. Test input — button presses, stick positions, mouse movement, and similar signals — is generally processed locally by your browser and is not intentionally transmitted to our servers by the tools themselves, unless a specific tool states otherwise. The site does use Google Analytics to understand traffic, and if you contact us by email, you provide that information voluntarily. This policy explains all of it in detail below.
Information You Provide Voluntarily
If you email us at contact@gamepadtools.com, you may voluntarily share information such as your email address, your name (if you include it), and whatever details you choose to put in your message. We use this only to respond to you and, where relevant, to fix the issue you're reporting. We don't add your email to a marketing list.
Automatically Collected Analytics Information
GamepadTools uses Google Analytics 4 to understand website usage and traffic, and which tools and pages are useful. Depending on the configuration and your browser, Google Analytics may process information such as page views, interactions, browser and device information, approximate geographic information, referral information, and analytics-related identifiers.
Google processes this information as a third-party analytics provider. GamepadTools uses the resulting analytics information to understand website usage, identify problems, and improve the website and its tools. You can read Google's own explanation of this at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Tool Data
This is the part most visitors care about most, so we want to be precise: the current browser-based tools are designed to process test input locally in your browser. This includes things like gamepad button/axis input, joystick position values, vibration/haptic testing, mouse movement and click events, and browser/device capability checks used to run the test. They do not intentionally send controller, mouse, or test-result data to GamepadTools servers.
If a future tool needs to send data to a server for a specific feature, the relevant tool page will explain that behavior directly.
Server Information
Like most websites, our hosting environment may generate standard server access logs (for example, IP address and request timestamps) as part of normal web server operation. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting purposes. We haven't specified an exact retention period here because it depends on our hosting provider's configuration, and we're not going to state a number we can't confirm.
Cookies
The site may use a small number of cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies, used to measure website usage.
- Advertising cookies are not currently used, because this site does not currently run any advertising. If we introduce advertising (for example, through Google AdSense) in the future, this section will be updated to describe exactly what's used, along with an appropriate consent mechanism where required.
See our Cookie Policy for more detail.
Future Advertising (Google AdSense)
GamepadTools does not currently run any advertising. We may apply for and introduce advertising, such as Google AdSense, in the future to help support the cost of running the site. If and when advertising is introduced, this Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy will be updated before it goes live to accurately describe the advertising cookies and data practices involved, along with any required consent mechanism.
Third-Party Services
The services currently used to run this site include:
- Google Analytics — for website-usage analytics. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Fontshare — used to serve the site's web fonts.
- Our web hosting provider — stores the site's files and generates standard server logs.
We only list services actually used by the site; we don't include anything just because it's common on other sites.
Your Privacy Choices & Rights
You have choices about the data described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. If you believe one of these rights applies to you, you can contact us at contact@gamepadtools.com with your request. We may need to verify a request before responding. We don't claim compliance with every privacy law worldwide, and we won't assume a specific jurisdiction applies to you unless you tell us.
Children's Privacy
This site is a general-audience utility site and is not specifically directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and we don't have an age-verification system in place.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the site, our analytics setup, or our advertising configuration changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change.
