About GamepadTools

Free, browser-based gaming hardware tools — built by gamers, for gamers.

What Is GamepadTools?

GamepadTools is a free suite of browser-based tools for testing gaming hardware — gamepads and controllers, mice, GPUs, and monitors — along with guides that explain the concepts behind what the tools measure. Every tool runs directly in your browser using standard web APIs; there's nothing to download or install.

What We Build

The site currently offers 18 tools across three categories:

  • Gamepad — button and stick tests, joystick/drift analysis, dead zone visualization, polling rate detection, input latency measurement, vibration checks, and battery level checks.
  • Mouse — DPI analysis, click speed (CPS) testing, double-click fault detection, button verification, polling rate measurement, and reaction time testing.
  • GPU & Monitor — GPU detection, frame rate testing, refresh rate measurement, screen bleed/dead pixel checks, and resolution analysis.

Who Is Behind GamepadTools?

GamepadTools is built and maintained by Sannkar Madhab Boruaah.

How We Approach Accuracy

GamepadTools tools are built using documented browser APIs and are reviewed against the behavior and capabilities exposed by those APIs. Where physical hardware has been personally tested, those observations are identified as first-hand testing. We do not claim hardware testing that has not actually been performed. Our full approach is documented on the Testing Methodology page.

Why Browser-Based Testing?

Traditional hardware testers often require downloads, installers, or Windows-only executables. Browser-based tools can work across Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and, for some tools, supported mobile browsers. Compatibility depends on the browser, operating system, hardware, and APIs available on your device — we don't promise every tool works identically everywhere.

The test input used by the browser-based tools is designed to remain in the browser rather than being uploaded to GamepadTools servers. Website analytics are handled separately, as described in our Privacy Policy.

What Our Tools Cannot Measure

Browser-based testing has real limits. Our tools can't measure things like total end-to-end input latency (including the display itself), the exact internal polling schedule of a USB device, the electrical characteristics of your hardware, or a component's complete physical health. They're built to give a fast, honest read using what a browser can actually observe — not to replace certified lab equipment. See Testing Methodology for the full picture.
